Blooming into Renewal: April Self-Care
Dear Sisters,
As we welcome the warmth of April, let's focus on renewal and growth. Just as flowers bloom, we'll nurture our minds, bodies, and spirits. Let's Prioritize healthy eating, regular exercise, and getting the right amount of sleep your body needs. Spring is a good time to get a yearly physical, or to make that dental appointment you postpone during the the winter months.
April Challenge:
- Mindful Movement: Dedicate 30 minutes, 3 times a week, walking, or other mindful exercises. Remember to pay attention to your breath.
- Creative Expression: Schedule time for creative pursuits, like painting, writing, or photography.
- Boundary Setting: Practice saying "no" to non-essential commitments and prioritize self-care.
Strategies for Blooming:
Nature Connection: Spend time outdoors, whether walking, gardening, or simply sitting on your front porch.
- Self-Reflection: Journal or meditate on your values, goals, and aspirations. Even writing one word, thought, or feeling counts.
Here are a few additional Resources to support you as you bloom. Consider the following:
"Women, Food, and Hormones" by Dr. Sara Gottfried: A comprehensive guide to understanding the connection between food, hormones, and women's health.
- Financial Self -Care Tip: - April is Financial Literacy Month. How did you do in relation to the goals you made for the first quarter of the year?
Review your budget and ensure it’s aligned with your financial goals and values. Make any adjustments as needed as you begin the second quarter of the year.
- Nature Journaling: Spend time in nature, journaling about your observations, thoughts, and feelings.
- Mindful Walking: Practice walking meditation, paying attention to your breath.

One of my old flutes (Nala), next to my new flute (Zephira). Zephira's high silver content produces a brilliant sound and adds to its overall appeal. I can tell a big difference between the two!
Me? I've been practicing my flute (when no one can hear me because I sound so bad. Truth is, I sound horrible!) I gave myself the gift of a new flute during the pandemic for one of my birthdays. It's a beautiful instrument, the upgrade that I've always wanted- and her tone is full-bodied and rich. Since it's a professional model, it requires more skill to play and since I hadn't played in over 30 years, I am starting pretty much from scratch. It's a challenge that I welcome, though, so I'll keep working at it. I've also been doing a mini watercolor painting in the mornings after I say my prayers. So, as the year progresses I will look back at what I've done. I hope to have a nice little collection by year's end that I can compile into something creative.
I love working with mature women who wish to level up to a more intentional lifestyle that includes financial freedom, rest, travel and a bit more ease.

It's my goal to provide helpful and doable tips that add value without being overwhelming. According to Darren Hardy's book The Compound Effect, simple, consistent habits lead to big results. It's one of my favorite reads... in fact, add that book to your resource list! :)
Take care of yourselves.

Warmly,
Sunya
