Do you have a passport? Do your children and grandchildren have passports? What about your close friends?

Recently, I discussed the social and financial benefits of business travel and that includes international travel. I read in a Fidelity publication that the  U.S. Department of State is launching passport acceptance fairs around the country to help first-time applicants and their children to submit their paperwork for the document. Most events will take place at post offices and libraries, and the department says new fairs will be added each week.

What it could mean for you:

You will save postage, and you might get your passport faster than applying by mail since you would be applying directly amid record-high requests. Although it may take longer than the typical 6-8 weeks to receive the passport, I've personally never heard of it taking more than 12 weeks.  If anxiety is a factor, one can always expedite the process for receipt in a few days.  Although the passport fairs are being scheduled, in some cases, you might still need an appointment. Check the State Department's website for more information including dates and the required paperwork. Again, go to the U.S. Department of State for more information:

Did you know that the Universal Declaration of Human Rights deems travel between regions a human right? We can learn a lot about ourselves and the world as travel opens up another universe of opportunities and possibilities, and it can allow us to change our perspectives.

If you don't have a passport, (believe it or not, most Americans don't have one) I made a YouTube video a while back about why it's an important document to have.

Take care, and I'll see you out in the world,

...and safe travels!
